Hot! London 2012 Rhythmic Gymnastics

London 2012 rhythmic gymnastics are among the best and most anticipated sports in Olympics (video). Here too like synchronized swimming Russia seems to be on top

The exciting rhythmic gymnastics has kicked off at the 2012 London Olympics. As it was expected, Russian gymnasts have dominated in the qualifying round for the team-all-around and individual events of rhythmic gymnastics at the 2012 London Summer Olympics. The qualifying events that took place at the Wembley Arena have finished with top 8 teams and 10 individual participants landing in the finals.

In the individual all around, Evgenia Kanaeva, the defending Olympic champ from Russia has taken the top position with a score of 116.000. Following Kanaeva, her compatriot Daria DMitrieva has made it into the final with a second position. DMitrieva scored 114.525 points on her way to the final. Though making some slight mistakes on the first day, Kanaeva could finish the round with a top rank thanks to her amazing performance in the ribbons section on the second day.

The third rank in the individual all-around qualifiers goes to Aliya Garayeva. The Azerbaijani rhythmic gymnast made 111.850 points to finish the qualifier round with a third rank. Bulgarian gymnast Silviya Metiva scored 111.925 points for the fourth position. Yeon Jae Son of Korea is the sole representative of Asia in the top ten ranking of the individual all-round at the London Olympics rhythmic gymnastics. Yeon scored 110.300 for her 6th position in the list.

Interestingly, gymnasts from former CIS states such as Russia, Belarus, Azerbaijan and Ukraine have dominated the top ten of the qualifiers round of the rhythmic gymnastics. Gymnasts from Poland, Bulgaria and Israel have also done well in the qualifier round. However, it is quite disappointing that favorites like the British gymnast Francesca Jones could not qualify for the finals. In the meantime, American gymnast Julie Zetlin, who got 21st position in the qualifier, announced her retirement from the sport at the 2012 London Olympics.

In the group all around as well, Russia has had a clear edge over its competitors. When Russia scored 56.375 points, Italy and Belarus could find place in the second and third positions with a score of 55.800 and 54.750 points. The finals of both the team and individual all around will take place on Sunday, August 12 at the Wembley Arena.

Israeli favorite Neta Rivkin also had a disappointing experience in the qualifier of the rhythmic gymnastics. Required to finish among the top 10 to make it into the final, Rivkin could only score 27.450 for the 14th position. I had a good exercise in the hoop in terms of both the elements and the execution with the apparatus itself, Rivkin said after the competition.

In the ball apparatus I made a bad mistake, but regarding the elements I executed what was needed. It s a mistake they take off a lot for. I hope to improve tomorrow, she lamented

However, in the group qualifiers of rhythmic gymnastics at the 2012 London Olympics, Israeli team that includes Moran Buzovski, Marina Shults, Viktoriya Koshel, Noa Palatchy, Eliora Zholkovski and Polina Zakaluzny finished fifth with a dazzling performance.
